Ways to Make a Legacy Gift
We have many planned giving options to help you achieve your financial and philanthropic goals while supporting the mission and work of Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust.
There are a number of ways to create a legacy, including:
- Gifts of Retirement Assets such as 401(k) plans and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs)
- Gifts of Stock and Securities
- Gifts of Real Estate
- Life Insurance
- Charitable Lead and Remainder Trusts
- Charitable Gift Annuities
Gifts by will are one of RLHT's most important sources of support and are simple to arrange.
You may leave RLHT:
- A stated dollar amount
- A percentage of your residual estate (what remains after gifts to loved ones and expenses have been paid), or
- A specific asset, such as securities or other marketable property
This sample language may be useful:
"I give and bequeath to Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, Inc, P.O. Box 249, Oquossoc, ME 04964 [the sum of __________ Dollars ($____)] [ _______ % of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate], to be used for its general charitable purposes."
Unrestricted bequests give us the greatest flexibility to use funds where they are most needed.
You can name RLHT as a beneficiary of all or a specified percentage of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plans.
Bank and investment accounts & commercial annuities
You can leave a legacy by naming RLHT as a Transfer-on-Death (TOD) or Payable-on-Death (POD) beneficiary on a bank or investment account, or a commercial annuity. Check with your financial institution to see if this option is available to you.
Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust accepts certain gifts of real estate. Please contact David Miller at (207) 864-7311 ext. 101 or via email at email@example.com begin a discussion about creating your legacy with a gift of real estate.
