Gifts of Interests in Land

An effective tool in land conservation is the use of a Conservation Easement which is a set of restrictions a landowner emplaces upon their land while still retaining ownership and use of the land. The Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust would be designated as the easement holder with long-term responsibility for ensuring the terms of the easement are upheld. Like a gift of land a conservation easement can be considered a contribution to a qualified charitable organization. For further information at contact RLHT at (207) 864-7311.

Bargain Sale or Land of Interests in Land

Under either a fee or conservation easement purchase a portion of the value can be provided to the landowner in cash and a portion of the value can be considered as a donation by the landowner to the qualified charitable organization. This donated portion can have tax benefits to the donor. For further information at contact RLHT at (207) 864-7311.

Gifts of Land

We are an organization dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of land and we will consider a gift of land in fee subject to an evaluation in comparison to our land selection criteria. Gifts of land can be considered as a charitable contribution to a qualified organization which can have tax benefits. For further information at contact RLHT at (207) 864-7311.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving is term used to describe a variety of ways a donor can leave money/assets to a charitable nonprofit organization at his/her death; or a way to invest money so that the donor receives benefits during his/her life and then bequeaths the remaining funds either to their heirs or to a nonprofit. A planned or deferred gift to the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust provides a legacy opportunity for donors to ensure that future generations will be afforded the continued natural beauty of the Rangeley Region.
